August 2025- Cardio Kidz NFP
Hops for Humanity gathered this evening at Church Street Brewery in Itasca for another fantastic night of community, craft beer, and giving back. Three outstanding charities were nominated and presented by their Hops members, each making a strong case for the impactful work they’re doing.
 
After the presentations and member voting, the winning charity of the evening was Cardio Kidz NFP, an organization dedicated to promoting heart health and wellness for children through education, outreach, and support programs.
Thanks to the generosity of our members, Cardio Kidz will receive a $3,500 donation to help expand their mission and make a difference in young lives.
We also extend our appreciation to the other nominated charities, DuPage PADS and Spirito Singers, for the incredible work they are doing in our community.
A big thank you to Church Street Brewery for hosting us, to our members for their continued commitment, and to all the presenting charities for making our communities stronger.

May 2025 - Metropolitan Family Services

Hops for Humanity gathered this evening at Windy City Curling in Lombard for a one-of-a-k
ind night of fun, craft beer, and giving back. The evening kicked off with a spirited “Learn to Curl” session, giving members a chance to hit the ice and try their hand at curling before settling in for presentations.
Adding to the excitement, beer for the event was provided by a lineup of local home brewers, who competed for recognition while sharing their creative brews with our members.
After hearing from the nominated charities and member voting, the winning organization of the night was Metropolitan Family Services, which provides vital support to individuals and families affected by domestic violence. Thanks to the generosity of our members, Family Shelter Services will receive a $2,000 donation to continue their critical work in the community.
A big thank you to Windy City Curling for hosting, to the talented home brewers for sharing their craft, and to all our members for making these evenings possible.

November 2024 - Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry
 Hops for Humanity gathered this evening at Golden Boy Barbecue in Elmhurst for a night of good food, community, and giving back. Golden Boy graciously provided the venue and a selection of beer, making for a warm and welcoming setting.

Harts for Hope's mission is to go into neighborhoods and show the children living there how loved they are. They believe that through love, there is hope, and that the greatest gift we receive is love from each other and from God. The organization hosts monthly birthday parties in neighborhoods, complete with games, snacks, treat bags, and gifts for birthday children. In December, they organize Christmas parties in neighborhoods and at local food pantries, spreading joy and demonstrating their belief in loving without limits.

Dark Horse Dogs takes a unique approach to dog rescue, focusing on the future rather than dwelling on the past. Their mission is to rescue safely and responsibly while putting good dogs into good homes with realistic expectations. Rather than using pity stories, they showcase each dog's real personality through goofy pictures and honest bios that help potential adopters feel a genuine connection. Dark Horse Dogs believes that rescue dogs don't need sympathy - they need a platform to show people who they are now, complete with good traits and annoying traits alike.

They serve women with guidance, resources, and emotional support, walking alongside them during the healing process with respect, compassion, and integrity. Youth Outlook is the first social service agency in Illinois solely dedicated to the support of LGBTQ+ youth. We work in 7+ counties in the Chicago suburbs, offering drop-in centers for youth, parent support, and community education.
Youth Outlook celebrates, empowers, advocates for, and provides services to meet the ever-evolving needs of LGBTQ+ youth and their families, friends, and communities. Their programs are fluid and change based on the needs and demands of our community.

Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry provides food, compassion, and hope to those unemployed or under employed and finding it difficult to make ends meet, single parents with little or no support, senior citizens on fixed incomes, those with disabilities, and those dealing with medical issues.
Alter Brewing brought an all-star lineup of craft beers, including the exclusive and coveted Denim Viper Triple IPA, along with Center Line Golden Ale & Alterior Motive Amerian IPA. Thanks to Tara, from Alter Brewing, for bringing to life the virtues of Alter.

Congratulations to the Elmhurst Yorkfield Food Pantry. The purpose of the Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry is for the charitable distribution of food for the relief of hunger to our neighbors in Elmhurst and the surrounding communities. The biggest take away from Monday night - every $1.00 donation is worth $8.00. So with the roughly $10,000 donation from Hops for Humanity, the food pantry can purchase $80,000 in food to feed those in need. Its crazy how many people and families we are helping!

 Since 1975, the DuPage Senior Citizens Council has been providing a variety of programs Since 1975, the DuPage Senior Citizens Council has been providing a variety of programs and services to help seniors live safely in their homes and provide them the opportunity to maintain their well being. On November 15th, Hops for Humanity presented a $10,000 check to the DuPage Senior Citizens Council. The Council provides meals to 4,000 senior citizens in-need throughout DuPage County with its Meals on Wheels program and Community Dining meals. Additionally the Council provides over 1,100 Senior Chore days to the community. | 
| Nominated and presented by Kevin McDermott, the Alyssa Alvin Foundation of Hope will receive the donations from this event. The foundation provides an opportunity for kids and young adults to explore interests in music and visual arts while undergoing cancer treatments. The joy brought to Alyssa from music and art during her cancer treatments was the inspiration for the foundation. We look forward to hearing more about the use of our donation at the October 17th Hops for Humanity event. It is truly humbling to learn about the many deserving local charities that can benefit from our collective giving. Our members chose Elmhurst Lions Club as the winner! The Elmhurst Lions Club has been a part of the Elmhurst Community since 1940. In addition to helping those individuals with sight and hearing disabilities, the Elmhurst Lions Club has partnered with Elmhurst Memorial Hospital on a new Diabetes Prevention Program as well as providing scholarships to local students and helping where needed throughout the community. | Member Craig Summerfield presented the charity Great Lakes Lab Rescue and member Ginger Wade presented the charity People for Elmhurst Parks.  Member Julia Stepenske presented the charity Survivorvision, and our members chose that charity as the winner!  Survivorvision empowers survivors of childhood cancer by raising awareness on policy issues and through the funding of follow-up studies, support services and the distribution of educational resources. | Hops group gives to Children’s Oncology Services “Hops for Humanity,” a philanthropic effort, which gives sizeable donations of $10,000 or more to local area charities, recently met to present its fall contribution to Children’s Oncology Services, Inc. The not-for-profit agency operates a camp for children with cancer, which allows interaction with other young people fighting cancer.
